Pre cool the house late in the free window and coast through the morning. The thermostat handles it once the schedule is set.

Pool pumps and home batteries both run on a schedule you control. Move them into the night and they draw from the free window.

When free nights isn't the right plan
This plan wins on one condition: a meaningful share of your usage has to move into the free hours. The fixed daytime rate is how those nine free hours get paid for.
If your household is home and running the air conditioning through the afternoon, and nothing much shifts to the night, a straight fixed rate plan will usually cost you less. We'd rather say that on the phone than put you on the wrong plan and lose you in three months.

What does "Free Nights" mean?
It means the energy portion of your bill goes to zero during a set overnight window. On Ambit's Free & Clear Nights plan that window runs from 9pm to 5:59am, every night. Electricity you use during those hours doesn't add anything to your energy charges.
What hours are included?
9pm to 5:59am, Texas time, seven days a week. That's nine hours a night, and it includes weekends and holidays. Usage between 6am and 9pm is billed at the plan's fixed rate.
Are delivery charges included or separate?
Separate. The free window applies to energy charges only. TDU delivery charges from your local utility apply 24 hours a day and aren't waived overnight. That's why we describe a night as very cheap rather than completely free.
Is the electricity really free at night?
Your energy charges are genuinely free from 9pm to 5:59am. Your utility's delivery charges still apply, so the bill for those hours isn't zero. Anyone advertising a truly zero cost night isn't describing how Texas billing works.
Who is this plan best for?
Households that can genuinely move usage into the night. EV charging after 9pm, laundry and dishwashers on a delay start, pool pumps running overnight, or a home battery that charges in the free window. If most of your usage stays in the daytime, a fixed rate plan will usually cost you less.
